Exhibition: carte noire by nora chipaumire

As part of her carte noire for the Festival d’Automne 2026, nora chipaumire presents an exhibition at La Ménagerie de verre drawn from the KADIST collection. Installed in the venue’s common spaces, it brings together works by Beverly Buchanan, Caspar Heinemann, Kapwani Kiwanga, and Chris Wiley.

This year, the Festival d’Automne entrusts its Carte blanche to nora chipaumire, who transforms La Ménagerie de verre into the beating heart of the festival for the first three weeks of the edition. The project will then continue at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, where it will conclude with the Festival at the end of December.

What bridges can be built between Harare, Dakar, and Paris? What dialogues can be imagined between these three cities, their histories, and their presents? It is from these questions that nora chipaumire conceived this carte noire, an invitation to bring performance, critical thought, music, film, literature, and visual arts into dialogue with one another.

The exhibition extends the questions running through her work, the body as archive, colonial memories, diasporic narratives, and forms of resistance, through the selection of KADIST collection works gathered for the occasion.

This collaboration is accompanied by a residency: from September 5 to 27, 2026, KADIST’s Résidence Tallard hosts the dancer, choreographer and performer.

Dans le cadre de sa carte noire pour le Festival d’Automne 2026, nora chipaumire présente à La Ménagerie de verre une exposition conçue à partir de la collection KADIST. Installée dans les espaces communs du lieu, elle réunit des œuvres de Beverly Buchanan, Caspar Heinemann, Kapwani Kiwanga et Chris Wiley.

Cette année, le Festival d’Automne confie sa Carte blanche à nora chipaumire, qui transforme La Ménagerie de verre en cœur battant du festival pendant les trois premières semaines de l’édition. Le projet se poursuivra ensuite à la Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, où il s’achèvera avec le Festival, à la fin du mois de décembre.

Quels ponts peut-on jeter entre Harare, Dakar et Paris ? Quels dialogues imaginer entre ces trois villes, leurs histoires et leurs présents ? C’est à partir de ces questions que nora chipaumire a conçu cette carte noire, invitation à faire dialoguer performance, pensée critique, musique, cinéma, littérature et arts visuels.

L’exposition prolonge également les questions qui traversent son travail, le corps comme archive, les mémoires coloniales, les récits diasporiques et les formes de résistance, à partir des œuvres de la collection KADIST réunies pour l’occasion.

Cette collaboration s’accompagne d’un temps de résidence : du 5 au 27 septembre 2026, la Résidence Tallard de KADIST accueille la danseuse, chorégraphe et performeuse.
